In my counseling practice I concentrate on family concerns such as marital relationship problems and child/adolescent behavior problems. I also see individuals experiencing stress, anxiety, and depression. My therapeutic style focuses on what you are trying to achieve in counseling and what you define as progress toward achieving your goals. I provide active feedback to my clients in the form of suggested strategies, materials, and resources. I often assign "homework" to couples and individuals to encourage them to try a different approach in solving their problems.
I specialize in Solution-Focused Brief Therapy. The average number of sessions per problem area is 6-8. The average length of treatment is less than 6 months. Many people benefit from simply one session. Because of the short-term nature of this approach, I usually have timely appointments available. The type of counseling I do is based on a systems model rather than a disease model. This enables me to view my clients not as having a so-called disorder, but as individuals, couples, or families who are having difficulty resolving certain problems or transitions in their life. |
