I am a Detroit native who is of first generation Greek descent. As such, I graduated from Wayne State University with my Bachelor’s degree, and the University of South Florida with my Counseling Master’s degree. Although my first marriage ended in divorce with three children, my second marriage is 22 years strong. I am level three trained in Gottman Marriage and Family counseling, and I have conducted male Batterer’s Intervention groups and female Sex Trafficking groups. I am also trained in Critical Incident Stress Management, Trauma Informed Care, and Psychological First Aid. I have also worked with middle and high school students in the Pinellas County school system for over 22 years.
When it comes to counseling, the following sums up how I feel: There are times in our lives when we find ourselves "stuck" and/or feeling like we are wading through quicksand to move forward. Our situations appear hopeless and sometimes overwhelming. They can be due to difficulties beyond our control, unresolved issues from our past that have resurfaced, or the consequence of wrong choices. We seek alternative methods for looking at ourselves, managing our situations, as well as the outside influences in our lives, but we don't know how to access them. We need someone to help us discover who we have become and how to move forward in a healthy manner mentally, spiritually, and physically. Your challenges may be the result of trauma, life adjustments, grief/loss, divorce, addiction, age, anxiety and fear, depression, significant others, elderly parents, children, codependency, ineffective boundary setting, inadequate coping skills, inadequate conflict resolution, and confusion/difficulty in goal setting, and career development to name a few. These all affect our lives, relationships, marriages, and parenting. This becomes an opportunity for us to make life changes that will move our lives into healthy avenues in the future. I offer a non-judgmental place to be transparent, learn new ways to make healthy life decisions, and grow into a healthier whole person. Therapies, homework, spirituality, nutrition, and exercise combine to facilitate this growth. |
